KHON KAEN — A van rammed into the rear of a parked 18-wheel trailer truck on the Mitraphap highway in Phon district here early Wednesday, killing four and injuring six passengers, police said.
The accident occurred about 5am on the Khon Kaen-bound highway between kilometres No. 251 and 252 in tambon Nong Waeng Sok Phra.
The trailer truck was parked on the roadside for repairs when the van, carrying passengers from Chon Buri, crashed into its rear.
One man and three women in the van were killed, while six others were seriously injured. The injured were admitted to Phon Hospital.
Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
