His Majesty the King is recovering from a fever and a lung infection, the Royal Household Bureau said Wednesday.

According to the 17th statement released Wednesday, His Majesty's fever has gone while his pulse, blood pressure, breathing and blood oxygen levels have returned to normal. Blood tests and a chest X-ray showed he was recovering well from his lung infection.

The bureau said on Sunday His Majesty had developed a fever and a lung infection.

Its latest statement said His Majesty was now able to eat, but doctors will continue to supply his nutrition intravenously for now, as well as administering oxygen. His Majesty is also undergoing physical rehabilitation to help his lungs recover from the infection.

Meanwhile, people in Khon Kaen, Chachoengsao and Ubon Ratchathani are praying for a speedy recovery for His Majesty the King.

The faculty of medicine at Khon Kaen University invited the public to join a prayer session at the faculty at noon Thursday. Mass prayers were also held at temples in Chachoengsao and Ubon Ratchathani Wednesday.
