2 killed, 3 wounded in Mae Hong Son camp shooting

Two Karenni refugees were killed and three others wounded in a shooting at Ban Mai Nai Soi camp in tambon Pang Moo in Muang district of Mae Hong Son province on Sunday night, police said.

Police and a medical team from Srisangwan Hospital rushed to the camp after being informed of the incident.

They found two refugees, aged 17 and 40, lying dead in front of the office of Block 13 where a recreational gathering was held.  The two were members of nearby Block 12.

Three refugees, aged 18, 20 and 42, who were wounded had already been sent to Srisangwan Hospital in Muang district for treatment.

Police were investigating the shooting. The recreation activities at Block 13 were also attended by refugees from other blocks.

Ban Mai Nai Soi border camp shelters 11,890 refugees of the Karenni ethnic group who fled fighting in Myanmar.
