The manhunt continued on Friday for a lone robber who made off with about 150,000 baht in cash from a Krungthai Bank branch opposite Khlong Luang police station in Pathum Thani on Thursday evening.

The man, wearing a black full-face crash helmet and gloves, entered the state-owned KTB’s Wat Dhammakaya branch in the compound of Bangchak petrol station on Khlong Luang-Nong Sua Road in tambon Khlong Song shortly before the bank’s closing time of 5.30pm.

Bank staff told police that employees were clearing documents as there was only one customer at the time when the robber, about 165-175 cm tall, entered the bank and walked toward counter 3.

The man pulled out a pistol, forcing the teller to hand him her cash. He then swiftly moved to the credit desk and  threatened another staffer to hand over more money. He then made off on a motorcycle with 145,132 baht. The bank is opposite Khlong Luang police station, only 100 metres away.

Police said footage of closed-circuit television cameras inside and outside the bank showed the lone robber parking a dark blue Yamaha motorcycle with no licence plate at the bank at 5.18pm on Thursday and fleeing on the same bike at 5.19pm. The holdup took only one minute.

The armed robber was still at large on Friday morning.
