A 46-year-old woman who enticed men to have sex with her and then robbed them was arrested in Chiang Mai’s Muang district on Tuesday.

Pattana Khruengkham, of Lamphun’s Pa Sang was presented at a police press conference in Chiang Mai on Tuesday.

Police said they seized many stolen items from her, including 30 Buddha amulets, a fake gold necklace, three bank account books and 16 small boxes for holding gold ornaments. Ms Pattana has been charged with theft.

Her arrest followed complaints from men aged between 55 and 72 that they had been robbed by this woman, said Chiang Mai police chief Weerayuth Prasopchokchai.

She approached her targets and told them she had no husband and felt lonely. She then enticed  her victims to have sex with her and then stole their valuables, according to Pol Col Weerayuth.

The woman often looked for victims at hospitals and among people from other provinces. Her most recent victim, a 72-year-old man from Mae Hong Son, told police that Ms Pattana had approached him at a hospital where he was waiting for a health checkup.

She became very friendly and then offered to sleep with him. When he went to a guesthouse with her she locked him in a bathroom instead and robbed him before fleeing.

The women had a criminal record of similar thefts -- four in Chiang Mai this year and seven other cases in other districts of the northern province last year, Pol Col Weerayuth said.

A source said three elderly victims showed up at the police station on Tuesday to identity the woman.

The woman insisted the men had all gone with her willingly and she had not enticed any of them. She said most men gave her something valuable in return, and she had stolen from only a few of them.

The three elderly men who identified her insisted she had robbed them, the source said.
