RAYONG - Residents in the municipal area of tambon Thapma in Muang district have been told to move their belongings to higher places as a precaution against possible flash flooding following heavy rain, Rayong irrigation office director Prasan Prueksachart said on Tuesday morning.

Mr Prasan said there was a heavy downpour in Nikhom Phatthana district from around midnight until 6am on Tuesday. A huge volume of water flowed into Khlong Changtai and Khlong Thap canals, causing the water level to rise rapidly.

The Khao Bot community and Ban Khao Bot School in tambon Thapma in Muang district were inundated.  The road passing the school was 2.70 metres under water on Monday morning.

Maneewan Witthaya School in tambon Map Ta Phut of Muang district and many localities in Ban Chang and Ban Khai districts were also flooded.
