Five-planet treat for stargazers

Stargazers will have a rare opportunity from tomorrow until Sunday to see the crescent moon and five planets — Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn.

National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand deputy director Saran Poshayachinda said the highlight will be just before dawn tomorrow when Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus will be visible to the naked eye.

Venus will appear close to the crescent moon while Mars, Jupiter and Mercury will be beneath them. Saturn will be visible in the evening.

On Saturday, Mars and Jupiter will appear next to the crescent moon while on Sunday, Mercury can be seen by the moon. All apart from Saturn will be visible before sunrise.
