Five people were killed and five injured when a passenger van crashed into the rear of a truck on the Mitrapap Highway in Sung Noen district of Nakhon Ratchasima on Thursday morning, police said.
Pol Col Khunsuek Sethachai, chief of Sung Noen police station, said the accident occurred about 5.30am near kilometre marker 118.
The van was taking workers from Bangkok to the Suranaree Industrial Estate in Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima when it ran into the back a 10-wheeler parked on the side of the road.
Five people in the van died on the spot and five others were hurt. One injured person was admitted to Maharat Hospital in Muang district, while the four others were treated for minor injuries at Sung Noen district hospital.
