A Norwegian police officer was detained at Suvarnabhumi airport after two bullets were found in his luggage on Wednesday.
The Norwegian officer travelling from Oslo to Bangkok on a Thai Airways International flight was held after an X-ray scan found suspicious items in his travel bag. Inside, officials and found two 9mm bullets.
The man was about to connect to a flight to Phuket when his bag was searched, Matichon Online reported.
The Norwegian national, whose name was withheld, said he was a newly-graduated police officer and was en route to Phuket. He claimed the bullets were left unnoticed at his bag.
Authorities contacted the Norwegian embassy and charged him with possessing ammunition without permission in violation of the 1954 Air Navigation Act.
The offence carries a maximum jail term of two years and a fine of up to 80,000 baht.
