Rank stripped from army officer over LM

The Royal Gazette on Wednesday published a Prime Minister's Office announcement regarding a royal command to revoke the military rank of Col Khachachart Boondee, a former staff officer attached to the 3rd Army who has been linked to a high-profile lese majeste case.

Mr Khachachart, also known as Seh Jo, faces an arrest warrant for his role in Suriyan "Mor Yong" Sucharitpolwong's alleged lese majeste network and is also suspected to be linked to alleged irregularities in the construction of the Rajabhakti Park project.

Based on the announcement, the revocation took effect retroactively on Nov 11, the day Mr Khachachart was dismissed from the army. It was based on a criminal offence in relation to insulting the monarchy, leaving the kingdom to escape arrest and violating military discipline.

The announcement said the royal decorations granted to Mr Khachachart were stripped from him. The royal command was counter-signed by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon.
