Authorities have announced several downtown road closures during rehearsals for the funeral procession of the late Supreme Patriarch Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara.

On Saturday Dec 7 and Dec 10, a public holiday, roads along the 3.6km procession route, from Wat Bowon Niwet Vihara to the crematorium at Wat Debsirindrawas will be closed to traffic from 8am for several hours.

The procession route starts on Phra Sumen Road at Sip Sam Hang intersection and runs to Mahakan Fortress intersection, turns left to Lan Luang Road, right to Krung Kasem Road, and right to Luang Road before Wat Debsirindrawas.

The royally-sponsored cremation ceremony for the late Supreme Patriarch is planned for Dec 15-17. His coffin will be moved on Dec 16, ahead of the cremation. He died on Oct 24, 2013 at the age of 100 years.
