The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has collected 825,614 krathongs in Bangkok from Wednesday night’s festival, 16.8% fewer than last year.

According to the Facebook page of Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, about 91.4% or 754,587 of total collected krathongs were made from natural materials and 71,027 from foam.

The BMA found that the percentage natural floats for Loy Krathong had increased this year, as 10% of the krathongs scooped up in 2014 were made of foam.

The authority collected 982,064 krathongs last year.
