Monk's dreams lead to discovery of old Buddha head

A large head detached from a Buddha image and believed to be over 300 years old has been unearthed from a pond inside a temple in Suphan Buri's Si Prachan district.

Phra Varavut Thitmetho, the abbot of Wat Don Pru, in tambon Don Pru, said the head was discovered after he dreamed about it nine times. In his dreams, the ancient object had been buried in the pond inside the temple, according to Thairath Online.

After discussing the matter with local residents, the abbot hired a backhoe to dig for it. On Nov 27, the metal head was found about 5m underground.

It measured 65 centimetres in circumference and was 40cm high, and was made of golden-coloured metal.

The day after the Buddha's head was brought up and consecrated, the water in the pond turn bright green, the abbot said.

People living nearby in Suphan Buri and Ang Thong provinces have flocked to Wat Don Pru to pay homage to the newly discovered antiquity.
