A 63-year-old temple undertaker has been arrested for allegedly disposing of bones from an incompletely cremated body in a reservoir in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Muang district.

Manus Sribuadaeng, an undertaker at Wat Yang Yai, allegedly confessed to throwing a skull and other bones into Huay Ban Yang Reservoir in tambon Kokklurd, Muang district.

On Dec 11, a fisherman found a black plastic bag in the river containing partially incinerated body parts.

An investigator said Mr Manus told him the bones were from a man named Pithan Peeraratsathien, 60, who had died of tuberculosis.

Pithan’s funeral was held at Wat Yang Yai between Dec 2 and 6, Mr Manus told police.

The undertaker said he arranged for Pithan’s cremation at the temple, but parts of the body were not incinerated properly. He decided to throw them into the river.
