Bullets found in Swiss man's bag at airport

PHUKET — A 39-year-old Swiss man has been arrested after two 9mm bullets and an empty pistol magazine were found in his bag at Phuket airport on Monday night.

A Swiss national was detained after an X-ray scan detected the two live cartridges and a magazine for a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol in his travel bag as he boarded a flight back to Europe.  

Pol Col Somchai Sanprasert, chief of Tha Chat Chai police station and Pol Col Supachok Yongstar, chief of Phuket immigration checkpoint, made the formal arrest after being advised of the incident around 7pm.

The man failed to produce a permit to  carry the ammunition when asked. He was charged with possessing ammunition without permission.

The tourist was being held at Tha Chat Chai police station for legal action.
