Missing Kasetsart rector found adrift

A fisherman picked up a designated rector of Kasetsart University who went missing at sea during a jet ski crossing from Chon Buri's Sattahip district to Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Sunday, police said.

Reports from the scene early Monday said that Bodin Ratsamithet, who was appointed rector pending royal endorsement, was discovered in the sea and was being brought to shore.

Police were awaiting details on his condition and how he became lost.

A search and rescue operation was ordered immediately after he was reported missing Sunday afternoon.

He was unaccounted for after a fleet of some 50 jet skis arrived at Hua Hin beach at 1pm amid strong winds. They had left Toey Ngam Beach in Sattahip at 9am.

Pol Col Chaiyakorn Sriladecho, chief of Hua Hin police, reported that a fishing boat had reported by radio it found Mr Bodin's jet ski Sunday evening some 17 nautical miles off the coast of Pran Buri district, well south of Hua Hin.
