Military hardware will be transported from the provinces to Bangkok on Thursday to be put on display for Children's Day, the army announced Monday.
Army deputy spokeswoman Sirichan Ngathong said the weaponry will be transported to the 2nd Cavalry Division at Sanam Pao for display on Children's Day this Saturday.
The public should not be alarmed if they see the hardware being moved, she said.
In the past unusual movements of military hardware such as tanks had sparked rumours of a coup.
Col Sirichan said hardware is moved every year for Children's Day and nothing sinister was going on.
Helicopters will be moved from Lop Buri province to the 2nd Cavalry Division between 7.30am and 9am.
Between 10am and 7pm, armaments and disaster relief equipment will be moved from Ratchaburi, Prachin Buri and Saraburi provinces, and from within Bangkok, to the 2nd Cavalry Division.
The equipment will pass along major roads, including Phetkasem, Pinklao-Nakhon Chaisi, Ratchawithi, Vibhavadi-Rangsit, Phahon Yothin, Thahan, Pradipat, Chaeng Wattana and Tiwanon.
The army will begin to move the equipment back to its home bases from 4pm on Saturday along the same routes, Col Sirichan said.
Similar movements of military equipment will also take place in other provinces.
"The army would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause," Col Sirichan said.
