A 29-year-old man was killed after being hit by a passenger bus on Sukhumvit Road in the Bang Na area on Wednesday morning.

Air-conditioned bus No.511 operating on the Pak Nam-Southern Bus Terminal route, loaded with passengers, was travelling on inbound Sukhumvit when it slammed into the man in front of the Meteorological Department, said Pol Lt Voravit Meekham, a duty officer at Bang Na police station, who was alerted around 7.30am on Wednesday.

The body of the man, identified later as Sarawut Chanjaeng, of Si Sa Ket, was found lying face down in a pool of blood beneath the bus.

Bus driver Narong Tonthongkham, 59, said he could not hit the brakes in time, as the man walked in front of the coach. The left front wheel of the bus crushed him to death in full view of screaming passengers.

The driver stopped the bus and alerted police.
