2 more human limbs found in Chao Phraya

Two more human body parts were found in Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani provinces Tuesday morning following the discovery at the weekend of several others in the Chao Phraya River.

Pol Lt Pakphum Tapkeaw, an inspector with Pathum Thani provincial police, said the lower part of a left leg was found in the river near Wat Kern in Pathum Thani's Muang district.

A right leg was found in the river under Rama V Bridge in Nonthaburi, according to police.

Officials are examining the parts and comparing them with the four body parts found on Saturday and Sunday -- a head, an arm, a torso and part of a leg, police said.

On Saturday, an arm was found in water weeds along the riverbank near Wat Kharuehabodi in Bangkok's Bang Phlat district.

A leg part was found in the Chao Phraya River near Wat Arun in Bangkok's Bangkok Yai district.

On Sunday, the torso was found in the river in Pathum Thani's Muang district while the head was found in Nonthaburi.

Forensic officials have yet to confirm whether the body parts found over the weekend are from the same person and whether they belong to a Thai or a foreigner, Pornchai Suthirakhun, chief of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital said, adding DNA testing takes time.

Deputy national police chief Pongsapat Pongcharoen yesterday urged people to file a report with authorities if their relatives have gone missing.

He was speaking after a meeting with Nonthaburi provincial police about the discovery of the parts to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, Kanchana On-sa, 29, was taken yesterday to a pier under the Rama V Bridge in Nonthaburi where the right leg was found to see whether it was that of her husband.

Her husband, Kietisak Khantinet, went missing from a hotel in Rayong province on Jan 22.

However, Ms Kanjana later said the leg did not look similar her husband's.
