NAKHON RATCHASIMA -- A man was killed after a pickup he was driving rammed into the rear of a sugarcane truck in Phimai district early on Sunday, police said.
Pol Capt Inthares Toonklang, the duty officer at Phimai police station, said the accident occurred at about 1am between kilometre markers 3 and 4 on Phimai-Talat Khae road in tambon Krabuang Yai.
The sugarcane truck, which had a deflated tyre, was parked on the road shoulder without lights when it was hit in the rear by the pickup.
It was believed the driver of the pickup did not see the sugarcane truck as it was dark.
The pickup driver, identified as Wuthichai Juklang, 22, of Nakhon Ratchasima's Khong district, was killed.
The driver of the sugarcane truck fled before police arrived at the scene.
