NARATHIWAT -- Thirteen students were injured, three seriously, when a converted pickup truck transporting them to school on Wednesday morning overturned when one of its tyres burst in Sungai Kolok district, police said.
The accident occurred near Lubokong village in on the road between Sungai Kolok and Tak Bai district. The truck had 15 students from Saentham Witthaya School on board.
The injured students, five boys and eight girls, were rushed to Sungai Kolok Hospital by police and staff of a local charity foundation.
Ten of the students were released after treatment. Three girls remained in hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Anuchit Pakawant, 48, the truck driver, who was unhurt, was charged with reckless driving causing injuries.
