A fire broke out at Max Muay Thai Stadium Pattaya, causing damage estimated at 200 million baht.

The blaze raged through the building on Sukhumvit-Pattaya Soi 42 in Pattaya Klang on Thursday evening, police told Daily News Online.

Pol Lt Amornthep Maima, the duty officer at Muang Pattaya police station, said fire engines from Pattaya's disaster relief centre were deployed to put out the fire.

When police reached the scene, they saw a blaze raging at the back of the large one-storey structure and heard blasts inside.

After an hour, the firefighters managed to contain the fire.

They found the entire structure was damaged. At least four people — a manager and employees —were slightly injured.

Initial investigation revealed some technicians had come to refill refrigerant for the air-conditioning unit at the back. After a while, blasts were heard from the compressor and the fire broke out, causing damage worth around 200 million baht.
