The prime minister's secretariat on Monday accepted four new armoured Mercedes-Benz sedans, two of which were assigned to Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The S600 Guard armoured series vehicles, costing 19.5 million baht each, were ordered in June. Two are reserved for foreign VIPs and the others for the prime minister. Gen Prayut will use one and the other will be put on standby.
Gen Prayut previously used his own private armoured Mercedes. The prime minister's secretariat had an armoured Volkswagen van that Gen Prayut would use when his private car was being serviced.
The last three armoured Mercedes to be purchased were three for ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, whose government secured them for 21 million baht each.
