RATCHABURI - A 46-year-old man was arrested in Chom Bung district on Tuesday for allegedly raping and forcing his 13-year-old stepdaughter to take methamphetamine.
Khongsak Jitchamruang was apprehended at his house in tambon Pak Chong on Tuesday morning. Twenty speed pills were found in a rice dish held by Mr Khongsak, who told arresting officers he was about to have a meal
The arrest of Mr Khonsak followed a complaint by his 42-year-old wife that he had raped her daughter and forced the girl to take speed pills, said Ronnapop Wiangsimma, chief of Chom Bung district.
The girl’s mother had lodged the complaint with the district’s crime suppression team, which later coordinated with Chom Bung police to arrest the suspect.
The woman told authorities that she went to work every day, leaving her 13-year-old daughter in the house with her husband and his relatives, said Mr Ronnapop.
One day, she noticed her daughter looked depressed and she asked her what was wrong. She learned that her husband had raped her daughter on several occasions and also forced her to take illegal drugs.
She had left the house, taking her daughter with her, but Mr Khongsak was trying to find them. He sent SMS messages threatening her and her daughter, she alleged.
Fearing for her daughter's safety, the woman decided to seek help from the district’s ad-hoc suppression team, the district chief said.
Mr Khongsak was held in police custody on a charge of having illicit drugs in his possession. Police were investigating the rape allegation.
His stepdaughter was taken to a hospital for a physical examination to find evidence of rape.
