PHETCHABURI -- The body of an unidentified woman was found dead with her hands and feet bound outside a hilltop historical park in Muang district on Tuesday.

The woman, aged around 25-30, was lying face up at the stairs to Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park in tambon Khlong Krasaeng, said Pol Capt Akkharamet Singsang, a duty officer at Muang police station who was alerted around 7.30am..

Wearing only a blue t-shirt, the woman had both hands tied behind her back with a bra and her feet tied with black pants, said police. A pair of sandals, a bottle of drinking water, a cosmetic bag and two train tickets issued on April 17 were found near her body.

Prathuaeng Em-od, 50, told police that she went to the park known locally as Khao Wang (Palace Hill) to pick flowers for sale and found the body. She immediately alerted monks at the temple.

A source said police had not yet determined if the woman had been raped before she was killed. Her body was sent to a forensic institute for autopsy.

From April 13-17, the temple near the park had held a fair which the woman might have attended, police said, as residents said she did not live in the area. Authorities were investigating.
