SA KAEO -- Seven people including a Taiwanese tourist were injured when a speeding minivan collided with a pickup truck and tour bus in Muang district on Thursday.
The crash took place at the Sra Kwan intersection on Sa Kaeo-Khao Hinson Road, said Pol Lt Kittipat Khamnon, a deputy investigation chief at Muang district police alerted at 12.50pm today.
Witnesses told police they saw the van with a Bangkok license plate running a red light and ramming into the pickup in the middle of the intersection before hitting the tour bus.
The force of the crash caused seven people in the bus and van to sustain injuries, Thai media reported.
The injured were van driver Anuchon Pengsorn, 29, a 30-year-old Taiwanese man on board the van, pickup truck driver Preecha Jindasor, 45, and four other pickup passengers.
The van was travelling from Aranyaprathet district at high speed when it crashed, said police.
The minivan driver confessed he was rushing to get the Taiwanese passenger to the airport for a flight home. He was held in police custody for legal action. The injured were being treated at a nearby hospital.
