Princess resting after successful surgery

Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn has undergone a successful operation to remove a tumour from her neck, the Royal Household Bureau said on Saturday.

In a statement issued to follow up on the princess's visit to Vichaiyut Hospital on May 20 for a biopsy, the Bureau said doctors removed all of the growth to prevent a recurrence in the future. Pathological tests of the specimen showed the tumour was not malignant.

After the operation, the princess was able to move her arm only slightly. She was still suffering from symptoms related to pancreatitis, her previous condition, such as a stomach ache, nausea and occasional vomiting. She also had high fever at times, could eat a little and felt very weak.

The doctors therefore recommended that she put her activities on hold and rest for a while so that she can receive medication regularly and recover quickly.
