Even though it's not unusual for children to enter the same profession as their parents, it is probably rare when it comes to prostitution. But this is what happened to Siriphon, 23, from impoverished Loei province in the northeast who was introduced to prostitution by her mother.
"My mother, who worked as a streetwalker in the Lumpini Park area more than 20 years ago, brought me here when I was 17," she said. "I have been working and making good money here ever since, except when I was pregnant when I took time off.
"Recently I bought a scooter for 40,000 baht cash. I can take good care of my four-year-old daughter who is staying with my parents in Loei," Siriphon said proudly.
