Exercising for health

Optimum levels of health vary from one person to another; a professional athlete, for example, will have a radically different optimum level from someone who runs in competitive local races or someone who just enjoys walking.

When people don't reach their optimum health due to inactivity, their bodies can deteriorate and become susceptible to disease and dysfunction. The cardiovascular system degrades and people die prematurely from cardiovascular disease, the number one killer worldwide, accounting for over 60% of all deaths. People who avoid strength training can see deterioration in all systems, with the lack of muscle mass leading to Type 2 diabetes.
