Meal-time madness

Every parent wants their children to eat well _ the right amount of nutritious food, consumed at the right time, in the right manner. As a mother who has to feed her 18-month-old every day, I know full well that it is impossible to expect cooperation from him at every meal. Truth be told, I'd be glad if he cooperates half the time I feed him.

Ever since he learned to walk, my son starts exploring every space in the house whenever he can, including when I am trying to feed him. He will get out of the high chair, spit out his food, push the spoon away, tip the bowl over or throw food at my face while running all over the place. Not a pretty picture.

This creates quite a dilemma for most mothers. Do I follow him around and make sure he gets enough food, or do I break this habit by putting his food away as soon as he leaves the dining table? I've heard both sides of the story. Some mothers say it is better to follow my son around or else he won't get all the nutrients he needs. Some mothers argue that he will soon learn that if he doesn't cooperate with Mummy, he will be left hungry until the next meal.
