Witthaya rejects criticism of new NHSO appointees
Public Health Minister Witthaya Buranasiri says the government's medical welfare policies will not be affected by new appointees to the National Health Security Office board who allegedly harbour political and commercial motives.
His comments yesterday were in response to criticism, led by the Rural Doctors Society, that some members of the NHSO board and its subcommittees are not qualified for their posts and should work for the benefit of the people rather than individual interests.
The NHSO board makes policy on medical welfare, including the universal healthcare scheme, also known as the gold card, which currently offers free medicine to 48 million people.
