Traditional drugs seen saving money

Thai traditional medicines are to be included in official healthcare services in nine provincial hospitals this year to reduce reliance on expensive modern treatment.
The Public Health Ministry's Department for Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine has conducted pilot projects in hospitals in Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi, Phrae, Chiang Rai, Suphan Buri, Sa Kaeo, Si Sa Ket, Surat Thani and Bangkok.
The medicines, however, are not dispensed through the official system and services are not covered by healthcare schemes.
