Many people have bought luxury condominiums in Bangkok as an investment, aiming to rent their units to expatriates. With the fast growth of new supply in the city over the past five years, competition in the leasing market has intensified. That begs the question: Are luxury condominiums still an attractive investment asset?
The answer depends on what an individual investor is expecting. But expectations are one thing and determining how to achieve them is another. Investors require balanced information to make the right decision.
Here we will offer prospective investors some insights they may find beneficial. Our focus is on luxury condominiums priced at 150,000 baht per square metre or above located in central Bangkok and the Sukhumvit area, where most of the luxury supply is concentrated. Central Bangkok here refers to the area along Phloen Chit and Rama I roads, bounded by Sathon and Witthayu roads to the east and Si Phraya/Phaya Thai to the west. The Sukhumvit area here covers Soi 1 to Soi 63.
