Valentine's Day bombs: a farce with deadly implications

Security analysts say that while the efforts of three of the suspects behind Tuesday's blast were amateurish, the bombs could signal the start of more sophisticated attacks and change the face of domestic terror

To one neighbour of the three Iranian bombing suspects who sent Bangkok into a frenzy last week, the most unforgivable act they committed during their stay was not mowing the lawn in front of their humble rented home.

bomb squad officials examine the house in Soi Pridi Banomyong 31 where the Iranian suspects stayed and accidentally set off a bomb.

"Look at that," exclaimed the well-dressed middle-aged woman peering through the fence slats at the unkempt garden in front of the bombed out house. "They didn't do anything to look after the place."

    I'm amazed that this story has not yet faded into the forgotten past like most other headline stories that rarely see resolution or conclusion. I'll give it another week.

    In other news, here is a place where even farcical foreign amateurs can obtain military explosive and components in less than a week after arrival.
