Prime Minister's secretary-general Niphon Prompan and a group of officials have been detained by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters at Government House, Interior Ministry spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said on Sunday.
Mr Niphon was hurt after the anti-government protesters broke into the ministry area and destroyed state properties, Mr Supachai said.
The spokesman called on the red-shirt group to release the premier's secretary-general and other officials, as they are violating the law and Mr Niphon is also injured.
At the same time, Prime Minister's Office Minister Satit Wongnongtaey said the signal of the satellite-based Democracy Television (DTV) has been blocked after the government announced a state of emergency in Bangkok and five nearby provinces.
The pro-Thaksin station needs to be blocked under the Emergency Decree after the channel urged United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters to join the anti-government rallies in many areas of Bangkok, Mr Satit said.
