The state of emergency in Bangkok and surroundings will remain in force until security forces can ensure complete stability, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Tuesday night.

Police and soldiers would remain in hot spots, he said. They were under orders to remain on alert.

Although protesters had dispersed from around Government House, there were political gatherings at other locations on Tuesday afternoon, the prime minister said.

"What has changed is that they do not wear red shirts anymore," Mr Abhisit said.

"But the government is trying to understand their feelings and trying to negotiate with them to reduce tension."

He reiterated that the soldiers had taken no lives during the crackdown on protesters.

"I would like to assure you that all operations have been done transparently," he said.

Mr Abhisit said althought the protesters had been dispersed, nobody could rightfully claim victory.

He  said another three protest leaders were charged in connection with the violent demonstrations.

The three are Veera Musikapong, Weng Tochirakarn and Nattawut Saikua. They face criminal charges of breaking traffic laws, inciting people to break the law, and illegal assembly of more than 10 people.

The prime minister said they would receive full justice.

It did not matter who the prime minister is. Abhisit or Thaksin, it does not matter.

It is the Generals who are making the calls. Abhisit cannot make his own calls, neither was Thaksin. Both and whoever else is next still have to go through the Generals. They are in the Army, Police, Banks, Board of the Directors.

That is a very sad part of Thai politics. Too many Generals who want power and richness. Only the poor, less educated, and less fortunate who will suffer.

If justice should be served to the REDS, then justice should be equally distributed. Have the government forgot what the YELLOWS have done? They would like to sue the UDD leaders for traffic violations and others while they would just forget the damages brought by the YELLOWS who even invaded the parliament house and closed Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports. If the government believes in the so-called justice, then they should show what genuine justice is.

As a foriegner and being Thailand lover I made various visit to Thailand, if i compare a young man like Aphisit who stuided in Oxford, who dare to talk and come to International Media to discuss issues, accept errors, show new vision and talking about redo things and policies those need to be corrected, I had not seen Thaksin talking frankly openly and giving vision to Thai People, even though he was making life more harder for foriegners too, what are the main resources for Thailand to be where they are standing now if compare from 2 decades ago ? Foriegn Tourist and Foriegn investors, with out mentioning their nationalities and race, many Foriegners were visiting Thailand and some how pushing Thai Tourism which connected to investment too, but during the period of Thaksin only rich Tourist and investor were accepted, my Question is why ? if Thaksin was honest with Thai, he should keep it as it was earlier, should not try to implement policies which deals with foriegners. what happend in the end ? most foriegners found other routes, such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Laos. People from Isan had been used by him, i think it is time for them to awake and need to open their eyes, bring your country up, give chance to young PM, he is more down to earth person then any other.. Love you Thailand Love you my Thai friends..

And by the way - who will be hurt the most because of the redshirts action? - Yes, right - the people of the north and Isaan - because they will be the first ones who loose their jobs in construction, tourism ralated businesses (waitresses, gardeners, security guards and so on) and making gift items for the tourists (where 50% of them coming from ASEAn countries the reds just embarrased and held hostage?
Thank the red shirts and the sellfish Toxin.

I believe a man who feel he is right should stay at the ground to fight for right, but unfortunetly Mr. Thaksin was never available for his team, I don't blame common people of Thailand those wear red shirts, because once again they had been traped by his mouth talks on phone, compare Thaksin and Aphisit , There is one major difference, Thaksin always away where as Aphisit was always in Thailand, it is more then enough for a man to understand, who is daring one..... open eyes and move Thailand toward better country..

Now you know whose sides these democrats, army, the judiciary, the establishment are on. They are not on the side of the majority of Thais. They wouldn't charge PAD after all the massive damages done by closing the airport and destoying the government house. WOW Thailand will never see justice or freedom. Thanks for nothing KONG!!!
