Suthep threatens to declare emergency

The government would declare a state of emergency if the anti-government demonstration led by the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship on Saturday turned violent, Deputy Prime Minister for security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban said on Friday afternoon.

“I have already drafted the declaration,'' Mr Sutrhep said.

''It can be immediately announced if the red-shirts rally gets out of contro.''

The deputy premier said he had authorised police chief Pol Gen Phatcharawat Wongsuwan to oversee the situation as he and Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva have overseas appointments.

He had directed police to deal with the protesters in line with international standards, but the law must be strictly enforced.

The military forces would assist in maintaining peace and order if requested by police.

Threats and intimidation from a government that knows they have never and cannot win an election in a fair free poll as the majority of the voters do not support them. It's sad that we are going the way of Burma in the guise of the Democrats. Thailand is becoming a failed police/military state.

When PEOPLE are ready to fight for democracy, freedom and justice, it does not matter if there is a emergency decree or not especially when it come from an illegal government.

The touristst stay away already. Phuket is empty. Pattaya too. Every one see the riots in the streets of Bangkok. See the stupid things in Pattaya. Thailand have problems in the South. And have problems near the Cambodia border about some temple. Now some people want to rally in Bangkok again against a government who realy try to do good. Clean up the mess Thaksin make. I'm sure Thaksin did some good things for the Thai / Isan People. Believe me he did better things for himself.

And the people all over the world are watching. How many tourists you think Thailand is going to lose?
Democracy is not born in 1 day . Not even in the States. Try to do without violence.

What civilised country do you come from? I know where I come from, the police are prepared and sent in numbers to cope with any such disturbance. I don’t remember in my lifetime the government having to draft a resolution before a demonstration! The man is a fool, this he has already proved.

Mr Suthep is right to prepare for action should the red shirts start to get violent and out of control. People who disagree with him have no idea how democracy works in the civilised world. It is because of these views that confidence in Thailand will disappear not because of Mr Suthep's remarks. As far as Thaskin is concerned he is a convicted criminal and has no interest in the welfare of his people. The sooner Thai people forget him the better it will be for everyone.

I would say: Suthep just enjoy it when it is still possible. everybody knows that you are a son of a female dog. If Thaksin would have dared to threaten the yellow shirts this way the world would have been too small. Your government is illegitimate just as the government in Iran is. The parallels between the two countries are evident. Suthep and his buddy Newin send in militias but still get pounded and lose face. Suthep my dear you would have been acked in any developed country as the responsible person for the failed top in Pattaya. Good luck, maybe you should on forehand start subsidizing the tourist industry. Many companies will withdraw from thailand too because of your threats. But than again. Suthep knows best that is why it is much better in the South right now.
