Lt Gen Kanit: No sign of violence

There was no report from security units indicating that the anti-government demonstrationat Government House by the red-shirts would lead to unrest, Army Region 1 commander and director of the Peace Keeping Command Center Lt Gen Kanit Saphithak said on Saturday afternoon.

Lt Gen Kanit said his center will assess the situation every three hours and will use the same security measures to deal with the red-shirted protesters.

The joint police and military force will try to prevent violence from taking place, he said.
