8 missing in landslide as storms hammer far South

Eight peope were missing after a landslide in the southern province of Narathiwat as heavy rains continued, causing extensive flooding in the region.
The search for the missing people was continuing amid incessant rainfall.
Flooding was reported along the Gulf coast, particularly in Songkhla and Narathiwat, causing the temporary closure of 10 schools in Hat Yai district.
Overnight. cintuous heavy rain in Songkhla province flooded areas in all eight districts. In the business district of Hat Yai, runoff inundated two municipal areas and disrupted traffic.
Local disaster response chief Wichit Chanpan said government workers were helping people in all eight districts while closely monitoring water levels. The local office of the meteorological department issued a warning of more heavy rain and possible flash flooding along the entire eastern coast of the southern region.
Heavy rain in the southern province of Narathiwat caused three rivers to overflow their banks, flooding low lying areas in three districts.
In Songkhla, a high tide flooded roads and a strip of 10 shops along the beach. Some shops closed after they were damaged by strong winds and fallen trees.
