The Thai charge d'affaires to Phnom Penh and other embassy officials were given permission to visit Thai engineer Siwarak Chutiphong at Prey Sar prison this morning, Chavanond Intarakomalyasut confirmed on Tuesday.

The secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said Chalotorn Phaovibul, the charge d'affaires, reported that Mr Siwarak was receiving proper treatment at the prison.

Mr Chavanond said Mr Chalotorn was talking to Cambodian officials to get details of the charges against Mr Siwarak so that defence lawyers could fight the case.

He said Mr Siwarak was also allowed to talk to his mother on the phone.

Mr Chavanond said he saw this as a good sign that could lead to talks to normalise relations between the two countries, as Cambodia had now soften its stance.

Mr Chalatorn, as charge d'affaires, is temporarily in charge of the Thai diplomatic mission in the absence of the ambassador, who was recalled two weeks ago.

To Thai People, Thai Government and International Public:

I hope Bangkok Post will post my comments.

Legal actions should be taken in this case and it will not related to relationship both ogvernments. If he will be found not guilty he will be released.

How many Cambodian people were prisoned in Thailand. Did Thai government open for Cambodian government to fight the case. What about the accusation of Thais soldiers bunr alive a Cambodian man and a recent shoot dead one Cambodian boy who was accused to illegaly crossed the border in to Thailand and invloved in illegal logging. The Cambodian foreign ministry has sent official note while no response from Thai government.

In 2004, a Burmese boy told me that Thai soldiers shoot at Burmese people hwo illegally went in to Thailand like they shoot animals. Any illegal people should be taken according to human rights and international treaty. There were a report of Thai court in a province (I forgot the name) recently brought Cambodians who were accused illegal to the court with chain even around their legs.

Now, I know it is true that Thais try to treat people of neighboring countries like animals as a Burmese boy told me.

Will Mr. Abhisit revisit Thai soldiers' attitude along the neighboring countries borders?

It is good that this Thai prisoner and Thai officials recognized that he was treated well by Cambodian authority. Again, please reflect your government/official attitude if you want to heal the relationship with the neighbors. Problem cannot be solved by one side.

You said Cambodian government soften its stance this means Cambodian government made it hard for this enineer case. If the court found that he is guilty this will not realte to Cambodian government stance that is hard of soft. It is law.

I hope all Thai writers should be more professional in your newspaper.
