UDD plans million-strong protest

  • Online news:

The United front for Democracy against Dictatorship expects one million red-shirts will turn out for a mass anti-government demonstration to bring down the government, planned from Nov 29 to Dec 3, UDD core leader Jatuporn Promphan said on Tuesday.

“It will be a five-day gathering of at least one million red-shirts and we will make the war against the government as short as possible. The red-shirts will not lay siege to Government House or other state offices,'' said MrJatuporn.

UDD leaders were not worried about the strong possibility the government will again invoke the Internal Security Act to deal with the protesters, he said.

“If one million red-shirts turn out as expected, we will be able to topple the government. But if we cannot make it, we will return to the streets again after Dec 5, His Majesty the King’s 82nd birthday,” the UDD leader said.

He believed the UDD could achieve its objective to topple the government before the end of the year because there were problems of corruption in several ministries and prices of agricultural products were low. The government had only one option left — dissolve the House and call elections.

''This time, either UDD or the government must go'', he said. ''The government should not be allowed to celebrate the New Year festival.”

Why do people like you insist on posting factually wrong information. Many redshirt/udd people have alraedy disclosed that they have been paid to attend rallies. Why do you post blatant untruth, your post will not change the truth my friend.

What nonsense! 1 million, Ha! What about the millions of Thai who loathe these threats of constant disorder. Do these people think millions of Thai with other opinions want this mob to rule!

Stay home and use equal energy to build this wonderful country instead of scaring away the very sources of income which are needed to develop our lives.

(Of course, well wishers could take the money and stay home and watch the non-sensical proceedings on TV -- buy chicken and sticky rice and help the local economy!:)

    One Million Demonstrators ?
Even Taxin is not willing to part with 500 Baht per One Million people. He might shell out altogether 50 million Baht, not more than that.
Contrary to many poor people HE knows the value of money and how not to throw it out of the window.

And who will control that the lions share will not be taken by the BIG CHIEFS (as is customary in Thailand)

"One Million" ? I do not believe it ---

ISA is not a good solution but H1N1 virus can provide a better solution.

On Nov. 28,2009. The government of Thailand will make the following announcement:

With effective from Nov.29, 2009. In order to prevent and control the fatal H1N1 virus from spreading rapidly, gathering of more than 10 people (especially protesters, both red or yellow) anywhere in Thailand is prohibited by law. This law will stay until next general election finished.

The fine for breaking the above law is USD 2 billion.

bakOng of course envy and jealousy cannot be eliminated neither can greed.
With compromise and godwill they can be mangaed, limited and controlled.
The income difference between rich and poor in this country is obscene and is many times that of most countries.
In Japan the income difference between the rich and poor is 3.5 times in Thailand it is 13 times.
It cannot continue forever and if compromise is not found then you and your kind will one day soon reap the whirlwind. So do it now before it is too late, I gaurentee you will regret it one day if you don't.
Evolution or revolution which do you want? The history of many countries proves the above to be true.

CHARITY REDSHIRT MEETING in Khao Yai last Sunday didn't collect enough money to pay salary for one million people. So we don't worry to see a few people wearing redshirt during le last week of November...
