Thanpuying Viriya Chavakul has denied being the mastermind behind the attempted assassination of People's Alliance for Democracy leader Sondhi Limthongkul.

Thanpuying Viriya Chavakul

Speaking to INN news yesterday, Thanpuying Viriya insisted she had no knowledge of the plot to kill Mr Sondhi. Following the assassination attempt, Mr Sondhi said a certain lady close to the palace was one party among many who had "chipped in" to have him killed. "I'm not worried. Whoever wants to implicate me, let them. The truth is the truth. I'm just a woman without a husband who is incapable of doing anything like that to Mr Sondhi," she said. "The thought [of having Mr Sondhi killed] never crossed my mind."

Thanpuying Viriya admitted she was acquainted with military top brass because of her charity work, which included visiting frontline soldiers, and she now heads a foundation under royal patronage to care for border patrol security officers.

The Sondhi murder bid has opened up speculation that the gunmen were connected to, or part of, the security forces. Bullet casings engraved with the initials of the Royal Thai Army were collected from the shooting scene on April 17.

Thanpuying Viriya said the top brass she is close to are now retired and they are not in any active positions.

"Besides, these people don't love me enough to volunteer any kind of risky service for me," she added.

Thanpuying Viriya said she was being discredited because she had "endorsed" former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's loyalty to the monarchy.

"But this is what I believe to be true [Thaksin being loyal to the monarchy]. Everyone is entitled to their opinion," she said. Thanpuying Viriya also denied Mr Sondhi's suggestion that she skimmed money from the sale of blue shirts, a fund-raising project to honour Her Majesty's birthday.

There appears to be a catacasmic difference between English and Thai when translated in both directions. I have read most of the lies and speeches criminal thug on the run, male Thaksin Shinawatra has given to the world media either in video form or written over the last six months in English including CNN, NBC.BBC, Fox, Asia news. Middle East Business Digest, China post, Newsweek, Time, Wall street journal ,etc etc and in each case he categorically states the use of violence in the overthrow of this present government. There is no need for a translation this is my native language. Along with accusing senior Privy Councilors of overthrowing the despot. He has called for insurrection and has admitted pay rolling the red shirted mobsters and this lady has the audacity to say this criminal Thaksin is” loyal to the monarchy”, my god when he preaches anarchy and wants the government overthrown. This is high treason in any Democratic civilized country in the world. Not Thailand. Shame on you madam. Maybe more ‘T” shirts. We have Yellow, Blood red, Blue, Pink White. What next Black.??

In the Thai news paper she gave statement that she did not get time to give money from the sale of blue t - shirt to the H.M. The Queen. It is very strange to read this statement because the sale money was collected 5 YEARS ago. What she is doing for last 5 YEARS with the money.

Seeing is believing....Only the shooter knew who is paying them to do the dirty job and now that they created more mess for themselves.

Why she just came out and made her statement especially just a few days after Mr. Sondhi mentioned about lots of money that she received from the selling of the blue shirts and not donated for the good causes or it is just kept in her bank account????

I still believe in the Thai justice court to bring the wrongful people to face their terms in jail if they committed the crime.

    Anyway, I never like ......

    She indeed represents Thaksin's regime.
Force Thai officers to buy T-shirts from her organization. Then, collect the money and give some of it to those whose name she can use to ride along for her further gains.

Where are the nasty gossipy comments? They always blame Thaksin and the reds for all the ugly smell and sounds around the place. There are deeper things beyond what people sees in politics right now. Brace yourself for more surprises!

Better than Dallas or Dynasty this. Who shot JR? Nothing to do with me says Alexis. She looks a bit like Joan Collins after far too many face lifts as well.

We are finally getting into the right direction, I think. The French probably knew it for a long time ago. They always start to "Cherche la femme".

It's very strange to have this woman coming out of no where, saying that she had abosolutely nothing to do with the assassination attempt. Was she asked? What's going on in Thailand?
