Charoen Pokphan Food (CPF) is ready for the trade liberalization under the Asean free trade agreement (AFTA) which will take effect from Jan 1, CEO Direk Sriprathak said on Saturday.

“CPF is a leader in the country’s food industry and is ready for the expected fiercer competition next year”, Mr Direk said.

He was confident that domestic consumption will substantially improve in 2010 in line with the economic recovery.

Mr Direk said foreign investors are still interested in investing in Thailand even though their confidence was deteriorated by the industrial impasse in Rayong’s Map Ta Phut industrial estate.
