American actor David Carradine has been found dead in a closet in a hotel room in Bangkok.

Carradine: Golden Globe winner

Police have not confirmed whether he took his own life or was murdered.

The naked body of the 72-year-old actor was found by a housekeeper in a closet in room number 352 of Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel in the Lumpini area at 11am yesterday.

Lumpini police said the body of Carradine was found curled up inside the wardrobe with one end of a shoelace tied around his penis and the other end fastened around his neck.

Both of his hands were bound with a cord which was also tied around his neck, said an officer at the station who requested anonymity.

Forensic experts said Carradine had probably died between 12 and 24 hours before his body was found.

They said there were no injury marks on his body and no evidence of a struggle having taken place in the room. Mysteriously, a footprint found on the bed did not match the shoes worn by Carradine.

There was a glass of water in the room. Experts were checking to see if the drink had been tampered with.

Police refused to give further details, saying they needed to gather more evidence to determine the cause of death.

Carradine was in Bangkok to star in a new movie, Strand.

He arrived with a film crew in Bangkok and checked in at the hotel a few days ago.

He rose to fame in the TV series Kung Fu, which ran from 1972 to 1975, playing Kwai Chang Caine, a monk and martial arts expert who roamed the American West.

He went on to win a Golden Globe best actor award for his role in the movie Bound for Glory, the life story of folk singer Woody Guthrie, in 1976.

He also starred in the Quentin Tarantino films Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, made in 2003 and 2004.

Like the old tradgedy news of Bruce Lee's death for 20 year ago, the mysterious death is still unknown and no one knows the truth about the death.
Give condolence to Carradine family and friends and hope that he will go with peace forever.

Congratulations Wasawpink, after several pages of various reasonable back and forth comments, we finally have someone that drags their god into the discussion.

Are you actually suggesting that David Carradine deserved to die because he (possibly) was trying to get off?

I suppose you blame the Tsunami on what goes on in Patong (Phuket) and 9/11 on homosexuals ???

What an ignorant and little person would -think-, let alone -say- such a thing? Keep reading your book on hot to get to heaven and judge other people. You are a perfect exemplar for your "faith."

It was so sad the way he died. Romans 6:23. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

David Carradine was probably the best Ninja of all, thank God he was a good one, and taught well, only being the best person he could possibly be. All the talk of secret Larry societies:
let The Carradine Family have some respect and peace, instead of what if's and lets remember him for the great subtle Man He Is.

I am very shocked and saddened by David Carradine's death. He was a great actor and one of my childhood heros. He will always be remembered for playing a character that became one of the most popular figures in pop culture history. There seems to be some mystery behind his death, just like Bruce Lee many years ago. These two are mostly responsible for popularizing the Kung Fu craze that hit America and also the world in the 1970's.Now both are gone, but they left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

This isn't suicide he wasn't hanging like US News reports, He was dumped into the closet after the fact wrapped in the clothing. Someone moved him as a footprint not matching his was found on the bed. Most likely a cleanup man for Sex Gone Wrong that did a lousy job at that, Possibly a frightened hooker.
How do you hang yourself with your hands tied behind your back figure that out (tie your hands and jump into a noose I don't think so)The cord was around his neck and his hands and a shoelace around both his heads the big one with a brain and the little one without a brain. He obviously was exercising his little head at the time. Dead dicks go limp and that isn't all that goes limp, think about it. Just an FYI for you prostitutes out there that assist people in this dangerous practice of erotic-asphyxiation. This is also a warning to those that need death related experiences to get their nut off, this includes women also. More so than men.

Now Kill Bill is really dead and an embarrassing moment at that. A lasting lesson for you Little Grasshopper. He should have continued to play with or just get his flute tuned instead.
