Students charged with schoolboy murder

Two students of Bangkapi Technology School were arrested on Thursday for the murder of a 9-year-old schoolboy on a bus on Wednesday morning, police said.
The two -- aged 16 and 19 -- were charged with intentionally killing a person, illegally possessing guns and amulets, and having guns in a public area, police said. The 19-year-old was named as Pariwat Lohphunwee. The 16-year-old's name was withheld.Police said the 16-year-old student shot repeatedly at a technical college student at the back door of a bus on which 9-year-old Jatuporn Polpaka was also travelling. The boy, known as Nong Thian, was waiting to get off the bus when the attack occurred.Nong Thian was hit by four bullets - one in the face, two to the neck and one in the left shoulder.The two confessed to the crime, according to police.The alleged shooter said he was sorry for his act, and apologised to the parents of Nong Thian. He said he did not mean to harm the boy.He confessed that he had bought a gun in Nong Chik area for 2,500 baht, and meant to use it against rival technical college students, according to police.Meanwhile, police and representatives of schools with a violence problem have once again agreed to step up measures to prevent clashes between students.The loose agreement was reached in a meeting between police represented by Pol Gen Panupong Singhara, a police adviser, and Pol Lt-Gen Santhan Chayanont, the Metropolitan Police...
