Most Map Ta Phut projects off hook

Rayong villagers react emotionally, slam govt

The Administrative Court has ordered the operating permits of only two industrial projects in the Map Ta Phut area to be terminated, allowing 74 other earlier-suspended projects to go ahead.

Noi Jaitang, 70, bursts into tears upon hearing the Administrative Court ruling Thursday revoking a suspension order on all except two projects in Map Ta Phut. Mr Noi has lost six family members to cancer, believed to be from what has been dubbed Map Ta Phut Syndrome. His wife is also now battling against cancer. APICHIT JINAKUL

The court on Thursday handed down its ruling in the case filed by Map Ta Phut villagers and the Stop Global Warming Association against eight state agencies in June last year.

Abhisit is a living proof that Rayong marine lives are safe to comsume. He once visited Rayong during the the villagers protest and took a big chomp on Rayong shrimps; he's still alive and well.

#12 Mungo Gubbins, it was Thaksin who brought in the loans for farmers and pensions for the elderly, He also invested in infrastructure in the poor areas. If you go to the neglected rural areas you will see how this investment has stopped. That is why the Democrats will never win the votes of the poor who they have abandoned.

First, where's Peaua Thai? Isn't this the sort of thing they should be getting people out onto the streets for? Second, any corporation, foreign or domestic that gets as big as CP, SCC and PTT needs to be boycotted back down to size.

Chuncton#5 ...and the Education budget is far higher than it has ever been, health care is better funded than ever before, the land reform bill will help millions of poor farmers, a debt releif program is taking vast numbers of people away from loan shark extortion, pensions for the elderly and disabled are now in place, a comprehensive welfare state is under development, and the economy is booming. Puea Thai's only policy is return a convicted ctiminal and human rights abuser of the worst kind to power.

I remember hailing the district court's ruling, but at the same time saying that the Administrative would overturn it.

Sure enough, it happened. It just goes against the Richest People in Thailand who own the stocks of those companies. To them those pheasant lives are worth 20,000.00 each. I feel sorry for those who live nearby the industries.

Abhisit is not who he claims to be.

It is a matter of national's prosper. Do you want that all industries move to Vietnam or Malaysia and Thailand go back to stone age??? or be like Philippines where no big investment go there. I suspect that the Vietnamese or Malaysian BOI were behind these crying peoples. Anyway, the Government already increased budget to Health and Education too, not only for the military like the Red always said. 43 families suffer for 65 million is collateral damage. We still have the environment law to keep those Industries not to pollute Rayong.

This story shares comon elements with the story of the oil rigs in the Gulf of Thailand and so many others not disclosed by the government:

    CORRUPTION.

A few public servants JUST have in their hands the power to aprove or not licenses and permits for industries and oil exploration. So -hush hush-they recieve kick backs and they simply fast track those permits.

Its simple, because there has never been an independent body "public/private eye" to control this public cervants and the hole process of aproval.

    The formula is esasy then:

NO SHAME + NO CONTROL = CORRUPTION
