MTP projects to resume in two weeks

The 74 industrial projects in the Map Ta Phut estate which were allowed to go head by Administrative Court's order on Thursday will be able to resume operations within two weeks, Buddhipongse Punnakanta, an adviser to Industry Minister Chaiwuti Bannawat, said on Friday.
He said Mr Chaiwuti has called a meeting with operators of all 76 industrial projects to inform them in detail about the court's ruling and about the 11 types of industrial projects which the National Environment Board regards as harmful and which will require environmental and health impact assessments.For the two projects that were not allowed to resume their operations, Mr Buddhipongse said it would take four to six months for them to prepare new environmental and health impact assessments to get a new licence.PTT's TOC Glycol project and Siam Cement Group's Plastic and Chemical project were the two projects that were not allowed to go ahead.
