Thailand simply is not and will no be ready to host an Expo of this caliber, plain and simple.
The money needed to even consider this type of event would be better spent developing a better infrastructure...computerized traffic control, effecient train travel and safety, honest and responsive police force and reliable TV and mobile communications networks, just to name a few.

The current Expo cosy approx $58 BILLION, which was more than the Beijing Olympics.

What would the cost be by 2020?

Can anyone seriously consider this anything other than a PR stunt.

Lets not forget that over 60% of Thais only have a basic education, the majority of Thais live on 5000 baht a month, corruption is rife in political and military life and self service for prfit is the Thai Elites sole goal in life.

Another day in "Amazing" Thailand......oh yeah!

All Abhisit thinking is image and more images. High speed rails (when he should look at upgrading the existing system firs), student shootings clean up (when it has been around for more than 40 years and a part of Thai culture upbringing, clean up corruptions while he is paying off to those who support him, and now World Expo. Does he know these are long term projects and require a lot of money and resources? There are a lot of things/factors to be considered before jumping in without knowing the cause and effect, along with associate resources.

He is always saying something but has not really done anything. It is all image and public relation so far.

The scammers and scumbags will have a massive windfall, all that will be exposed in the end is the depth of corruption and the governments inability and unwillingness to control it.
