I'm staying on for nation, says Jaruvan

Auditor-General Jaruvan Maintaka has told the Administrative Court she was refusing to budge from her post because she wanted to serve the country.

Khunying Jaruvan yesterday appeared before the court in answer to a petition submitted by Chief Ombudsman Pramote Chotimongkol, who is seeking legal clarification of her status as auditor-general.

The petition was initiated by Senator Ruangkrai Leekitwattana.

Thailands Medieval Overlords stay in place, reaping the financial and power rewards until those capable, modern and forward thinking candidates are passed by, and replaced by someone who has more "seniority" than them.

God bless the Elites, keeping it in the family ancient style!

Same old, same old in "Amazing" Thailand.

Based on her contribution to the PAD and their master behind the scene, Jaruvan should be entitled to the post permanently, and a new "law" should be made specifically to benefit and honor her that she can transfer her position to her family members generation to generation.

#1 If you read the article again you will realize she IS the only one who examine the national budget. "...an acting auditor-general had limited authority and could not examine the use of national budgets".

Do you really want the Democrats to have no one to oversee the correctness in the way they handle the national budget? If they want to get rid of her, why not pass the law and get a replacement?

What they want is for her to resign and there will be no one to stop all their corruption until they decide to pass a law decide to name a successor. I think no government likes an independant Office of Auditor General.

Hang in there Khunying Jaruvan; I see you as an honest broker.

I am flabbergasted that a civil servant can just refused to retire!! Perhaps she is really noble and altruistic. In that case, she should just clarify that she is NOT expecting any salary or renumeration while discharging her duty "to protect the assets of the motherland" against the wishes of the Government. Then, nobody can question her motives and integrity.

    Read this statement:

-----He said Saneh Chamarik, the former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, and Gen Teeradej Mepien, the former chief ombudsman, had stayed in their positions until they were over 80 years old pending the selection of their successors.-----

It looks like Thailand is really lack of qualified people. Get the military people to help appoint one - that will solve the problem.

She must think she is the only person that can do this job. Maybe someone wants her in this position for a reason.
