The deputy mayor of Muang Phayao Municipality has been arrested over allegations that he demanded money in exchange for a council position.
Cherdsak Suktua was accused yesterday of demanding 150,000 baht from a job applicant for a garden landscaper position at the municipal office in Phayao.
A civic network based in Chiang Rai filed a complaint with the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission. PACC secretary-general Pinyo Thongchai said a sting operation was set up to catch the deputy mayor.
